Home Remedies for Insomnia

Drink madhu (honey) water at your bed time as it brings good sleep. Take one glass of water and mix one tablespoon of honey in it and your drink is ready. This is beneficial home remedy for insomnia as it is helpful in insomnia cure .

Take band gobhi (cabbage) juice in your diet as it is helpful in insomnia cure.

Milk is beneficial for curing sleeplessness or in insomnia cure. Regularly drink one glass of milk containing half tablespoon honey at night.

Eat ghiya (bottle-gourd) vegetable as it cures insomnia. Rub your scalp everyday with sesame oil containing one tablespoon bottle gourd juice. This is effective home remedy and cures sleeplessness or insomnia. This is one of the best home remedies for insomnia.

Eat curd daily. Rubbing down one tablespoon of curd on forehead brings good sleep. One of the useful home remedies for insomnia.

Yogic asana

Method for shavasana

You lie down or rest on the floor or bed keeping your face forward and concentrate on your body and forget all worries. Keep your eyes close, legs little separated, and your arms inclined at the sides of your body, and hand palms should facein upper direction. Breathe in and lift your right arm and keep it upward for few seconds then breathe out and slowly move your arm down, repeat this for 2-3 times then do in the same way for left arm, right and left leg and evacuate your mind from troubling thoughts. This yogic exercise will refresh you. Regular practice of shavasana will relax your overall body, mind and will cure sleeplessness or insomnia.

Dos and don’ts

Avoid watching television at your sleep time.

Avoid taking sleeping tablets. They are not good for your body and does not provide cure for insomnia, your mental strength and intelligence reduce by their intake.

Do not sleep for long hours in the day time.

insomniacs should eat foods like, bananas, yoghurt and various green vegetables and salads.

Avoid eating excess sugar, chocolates and excess salt.

Avoid alcohol and smoking as it causes depletion of bodily fluids and drowsiness or sleeplessness.

Avoid eating oily food at night.

Best cure for insomnia, do not take stress as worries are silent killer and will not let you sleep.

Avoid taking excess tea and coffee as it leads to insomnia. If you take tea at your bed time you loss your night sleep and you will feel restless and jaded the next day.

Listen soft music at night and read soft story books.

Warm water bath soothes your senses and brings good sleep.

Dip your foot on warm water for 10-15 minutes before your bed time, it will bring good night sleep and will cure insomnia.

Eat food rich in Vitamin B, zinc, magnesium, Vitamin C, calcium, and Vitamin D. Taking balance diet and food rich in these minerals are essential for health, cure insomnia or sleeplessness.

Regular exercise keeps you fit and cures insomnia or restlessness. Avoid doing exercises at late night Go for morning and evening walk, swimming, and other physical activities as it soothes your nerves and brings good sleep.

Regularly do yoga and meditation.

I think my toothache problem is causing bad sleep. I want to sleep atleast 6 hours but I wake up after 3!
