Acidity is related to heartburn and gas formation in stomach. In acidity, acid reflux or gastroesopohageal reflux disease, or more commonly known as urdhva gata amalpitta in ayurveda, there is a movement of gastric juices (carrying acid) from the stomach into the lower esophagus (food pipe). This is a condition which is caused when acidic contents in stomach (hydrochloric acid) move upward into the esophagus and making it dysfunctional. Understanding the right treatment at right time and causes of any disease, like acidity or acid reflux, is very helpful for effective treatments. In ayurveda it is considerd to be caused by the aggarvation of pitta dosha that is responsible for burning sensation caused in the chest region.
Gastro esophageal reflux disease (GERD) or acidity is caused by various factors:
Stomach contains various enzymes and hydrochloric acids which help in food digestion. When there is a problem in the functioning of the digestive system, it results a disease called acidity.
Foods which are rich in fats, such as chocolates cause acidity or acid reflux diseases.
Excessive intake of alcohol, smoking, keeping stomach empty for long time, skipping breakfast causes acidity. (Counseling by professionals and friendly peer groups, who do not smoke can help you in quitting smoking.)
Excessive intake of caffeine also leads to acidity.
Other causes of acidity or heartburn are pregnancy, aging, obesity, and bad eating habit, like eating junk foods Acidity leads to burning sensation in stomach and chest area.
What to eat and how much to eat is an important factor in controlling acidity:

For 30 years, I have had an itching problem on my arms and for the last 15 years my toes developed calcium deposits that were very painful. Not one Dr. could come up with an answer let alone put the two together. I had read about taking a teaspoon of baking soda in a gl[@] of water to get rid of acid, which I did for the calcium deposits, and the itching stopped! I drank it for the toes and the pain stopped and was shocked to see the itching stopped also. I have been drinking soda water for the last year whenever I itch or my toes hurt and it stops the pain or itch right away. In the mean time I have had the calcium deposits removed from both feet. When the podiatrist did the surgery he said the bones in both big toes were black.
I am 54 years old, eat right, exercise, but can feel the acid eating me up. The only relief I get is when I drink the soda water, which is about one or two gl[@]es a day. Just thought this might help someone else out there if they are having the same kinds of problems.

I was not able to decide any thing, i took the 2 to 3 gl[@]es of butter milk every day, 15 days i felt it was normal, suddenly one day i felt indigestion again even when was consuming butter mild, i started walking every day morning after my shift, before going to bed, and i am sleeping empty stomach, when i woke up 2:00pm then i will have 2 chapattis and some rice and i will have my dinner at 9:30 Pm in my office, only twice daily, but still i have acidity problem, can you plz suggest what would be the permanent treatment for my problem, and I want to know whether due to acidity, there will be raise in the BP levels, as i never had increase in BP levels before this incident, is kerala's m[@]age would be the permanent treatment, i want the exact solution for my problem, can u plz help me out.

Perhaps the Lime, which you refer to is CALCIUM HYDROXIDE (CaOH2) not the Lime (fruit). As CaOH2 is a basic substance, it is therefore an antacid. The lime fruit on the other hand might even aggravate the situation.
Lemon or lime juice, freshly squeezed each time and taken 4 - 6 times per day will cure your acidity or at least eliminate your symptoms. Try it daily for 3 - 4 months and see the results. After that per need.
Each time take between 1/2 lemon's juice or 1 lemon (in case of lemons with less juice). Limes - maybe 1 - 2 limes juice each time.
Have small amounts of cold soy milk every 3 hours, and eating lots of apples and lots and lots of radish(mooli) helps a lot. Have it with black/rock salt if you can. avoid meat, and NO ALCOHOL.

1.use natural yogurt with 2 spoons of Ispaghol in it and eat it 2 hours before breakfast everyday.carry on as long u can..it will cure acidity.

Even after this the next morning some people might feel last night's food is not digested properly due to some belch or uneasy at chest region. Best thing to take is a gl[@] of water and an apple. It will save ur time to take ur breakfast as well as remove all the toxic substances u had in ur stomach. Definitely after an hour or two u will feel hungry. Have something which does not give u trigger. Differemt ppl have triggers with different things. I cannot have pineapple and banana it gives me severe acidity. So i prefer watermelon. Its 90% full of moisture and glucose. It will make u feel fresh too (science has proved this). Try this then after 2 hrs it will time for ur lunch. Eat normally rice daal and stuffs u like avoiding too much oil and if possible pickle. wat slowly drink enough water after the lunch. Try avoiding coffee completely for a lifetime as i have done. TAKE INSTEAD tea or badam milk. Take early dinner instead of hogging with snacks. then go for a walk with ur partner.. u will smile and sleep...

I am an experts on control systems engineering. Ayurveda is like modern control theory, no need to know about the process model, you observe the system and do its emperical modelling, thats ayurveda. Its far too advanced and complex than allopathic system.
I myself am a patient of hyperacidity.Its not permanently curable but could be taken under control little changes in diet and ayurvedic medicines.
Avoid the following :
1.large serving of masoor dal, little is fine.
2.cauliflower.
Eat light and avoid flatulence causing foods.
No waist straining exercise, no exercise after meal, little walking is fine.
For me, I think, its a psychosomatic disorder.
dont take stress.
Other thing that one can try to get rid of Acidity is "VAMON" morning as after brushing the teeth.... drink 2 liter lukwarm water and vomit all water..... do this thrice a day for abt a month .....see permanent relief from Acidity. but after vomon do not eat anything very heavy...first food in the morning should be fruits after 1 hr u can have whatevery you want. hope this will help!
Hyperacidity(amlapitta) usually strikes in winters or after overdose of antibiotics ,probiotics.Foods to avoid:
1.totally avoid peanuts, cauliflower,
2.Moderate amounts of flatulence causing lentils and beans will do.avoid their overeating.
do not perform waist straining exercise. a little walk after meals is enough.
Consult ayurvedic doctor/vaidya ji. Never go to allopathic doctor in any illness whatsoever.

I had a sever hyper acidity and I have tried almost all the type of medicines like alopathy, sidha and homeopathy. The only solution that helped me to come out of this bloody acidioty was Ayurveda medicines. But you have to be patient to get a permanent cure. When you have heart burn you will have the following symptoms one or two together. 1. Indigestion, Bloating sensation, berping, breathing difficulties, pain or irritation in chest and throat area, head ache, fainting etc. I have felt that as if I am going to die so many times. But understand that this is not a killing disease. First and fore most, you should not be panic, should not have anxiety. Be quite and take ayurveda medicine reqularly for minimum of 6 months to get rid of this disease completely. Avoid spicy food and food that does not suitable for you. Finding food that does not suit is major cure. Regularly take butter milk with asafotida and lime juice with cardomem to get a good relief. In addition do yoga and moderate exercise. All the best.

use kachoor(available at your nearest pansari shop) 120 gm, grind it well in mixcy , take 2 gl[@] of water, 2 teaspoon full of black salt,

boil it well in a water pot, till it become 1/4th, after 10mintures p[@] through with a tea strainer..........
you have to drink this solution only once in a day......

* Foods such as pickles, vinegar, fried foods, hot spicy foods, chocolate, pastries, and raw salad vegetables like onion, radish, cabbage, and peppers should be avoided.
* Clove also helps to relieve the symptoms of acidity. Suck one piece of clove slowly to relieve the symptoms. It also helps to reduce the onset of disease that arises due to acidity.
* A cup of vanilla ice cream or a gl[@] of cold milk also helps to get relieve heartburn and acidity within minutes.
* Almonds are also a good source for relieving the heartburn and acidity. Eat several almonds when heartburn symptoms persist.
* Lemons also help to prevent heartburn. Cut a lemon into thin strips and dip in salt. Eat before meals to prevent heartburn.
* Take some mint leaves and chop these and then boil in a cup of water and sip slowly after meals. If a person drinks Fresh mint juice every day he will never experience acidity.
* Jaggery or gur taken after every meal also helps to reduce the acidity. Keep a piece of gur in the mouth and slowly suck it till acidity decreases.
* Eating bananas is also helpful in preventing the symptoms of acidity and heartburn. To prevent acidity it is advised to eat a banana daily.
* A mixture of 2 tsp of natural apple cider vinegar and 2 tsp raw honey in a gl[@] of water before meals fights with acidity.
* Basil (tulsi) leaves helps to get relief from burning, nausea and gas. Chew some leaves of tulsi to decrease the acidity.
* Coconut water 4-5 times a day decreases the symptoms of the acidity and the heartburn.
* Harad (Terminalia chebula) if taken after every meal prevents the symptoms of the acidity.
* 1 tsp juice of chebulic myroblan mixed with 1 tsp of amla (Indian gooseberry) juice helps to prevent acidity and heartburn.
* Boil one cup of water. To this add 1 tsp of Aniseed (Saunf). Cover and leave overnight. Strain the water in the morning, add 1 tsp of honey. When this is taken 3 times a day it prevents acidity.
* To 1 ½ liters of water add 1 tsp Caraway seeds (shah jeera). Bring to a boil and simmer for 15 minutes. Sip while warm. Take this liquid 2-3 times a day for 5-6 days. It will decrease the acidity.
* Take a gl[@] of water, add a pinch of baking soda and drink it. It gives immediate relief from acidity.
* Take a gl[@] of warm water, add a pinch of hing (asafoetida) and have it every morning to prevent acidity.
* Eat a serving of cucumber or watermelon 4-5 times in a day to fight against acidity.
* Fennel helps to relieve abdominal pain, colon disorders, gas, and gastrointestinal tract spasms. It is an effective remedy for acidic stomach conditions (heartburn).
* Ginger is very useful for digestive disorders. It help to relieve indigestion from rich foods.
* Make a fine powder by adding equal amounts of ginger powder, black pepper, dried mint leaves, asafetida (hing), anise seeds, coriander seeds, cumin, fennel and common salt. Dosage: Take about 1 teaspoon of this powder with water, twice a day after meals.
* It is advised to eat 8-10 gl[@] to water daily. Drinking water gives immediate relief to symptoms like wind, distended stomach and acidity.
* Chewing bubble-gum also disappears the acidity. This is an easy and best way to get rid of Acidity.
