Method for making Valentine Taper Candles
Step 1: You have the choice of purchasing taper candles from the market or making them yourself. If you desire to make them yourself, just heat some paraffin wax over a double boiler and add a red colored crayon and some stearic acid to it. When the wax melts completely, pour it into an aluminum mould used for making taper candles. Remember to thread the mould with a wick and grease it with oil before pouring the wax. Allow the candle to cool down and set for at least 6 hours. And then remove the candle from the mould.
Step 2: Let the taper candle, which you have bought or made yourself, soak overnight in a heavy salt solution i.e. approximately 1 cup salt in 2 quarts water. This will prevent them from dripping when burnt.
Step 3: Use glue to stick the large candy hearts at the base of the candle. Place them at equal distance from one another to maintain the equilibrium of the candle.
Step 4: Brush a thin layer of craft sealer on the heart candies and allow them to dry. Once they dry, they will need three more coatings. Allow each coating to dry before applying the next one.
Once you are done, the heart candies will look like shiny gems at the base of your candle. And your Valentine Taper Candle will be ready to adorn your dinner table. Read about following Candle Crafts:
