Snowman doll Christmas ornament makes an interesting craft activity for children during the Christmas and holiday season. You can use these to decorate your Christmas tree, gifts or wreaths on the front door.

Supplies Needed

• Heavy brown paper grocery bag
• White and black Fabric
• Fusible web
• Black permanent marker
• Polyester fiberfill
• Wide red ribbon
• Pencil
• Tacky glue
• String
• Scissors and pinking shears
• Iron and ironing board

Instructions

Use a coloring book with Christmas theme for the pattern of a snowman. Now use this pattern to trace the snowman’s body, scarf, head and hat separately on the fusible web and cut them out.

Iron out any wrinkles from the fabric and then on the wrong side of the fabric place the sticky\rough side of the fusible web. Iron on all the pieces of the pattern on the appropriate fabric. That is, body and head on white, hat on black and scarf on red fabric. Cut out these pieces around the pencil lines.

Now cut the grocery bags apart to make them flat and lay them on the ironing surface. Peel off the paper backing from the fusible web and start pressing the fabric pieces on the paper bags. Iron them on in the correct order i.e. first the body, then the scarf, the head and the hat. (Let the ironing part be done by an adult)

Use the pinking shears (decorative edged scissors) to cut out around your pattern to leave about 1\2” of paper bag showing from the edges of the fabric. Use the black marker to make lines that resemble stitching about 1\4” away from the pinked edges of the paper bag. Also outline the eyes, mouth and other details of the snowman on the fabric with this marker.

Run a line of glue around the back edge of your snowman, leaving a gap on the top for the stuffing. Wait for the glue to dry and then start stuffing the ornament with fiberfill to give a dimensional effect to it. Use a pencil to poke the stuffing inside the ornament to distribute it evenly. Cut a piece of string and fold it into a loop. Place the ends inside the opening of the ornament and glue the opening closed. This will make the hanger of your ornament.
