Using the oriental art of origami you can turn a rectangular piece of paper into a bowl. This can be used as a rubbish bin on the table for chicken bones or if you use a nice glossy paper you can actually eat from it. You can make several origami paper square bowls and use them on your kids’ birthday parties to serve pastries, chips, cakes and other snacks. You can also use these to hold knick-knacks and keep it on your work desk or dressing table.
Supplies Needed
You’ll need an A4 size sheet of copying paper or any other glossy paper that can be used for origami craft.
Instructions
Step 1: Fold the paper into half and then half again. Make a crease and then unfold the second fold.
Step 2: After unfolding the second fold, fold the one corner into the centre crease and then do the same with other corner.
Step 3: Open the first fold and push its upper side with your finger to meet the center point.
Step 4: Flip the paper and repeat the above step for the other side as well.
Step 5: You will find the separated folds projecting from the sides of the triangle, at the bottom.
Step 6: Now, open the sides of the triangle the other way so the separated folds are now to the centre.
Step 7: Fold up the bottom corners to meet the centre crease. Now, you need to fold the upper corners upwards and the bottom corners downwards. Press tightly with your fingers to get clean creases.
Step 8: Fold the upper part of the paper at the bottom side of the triangle, once in thirds and then again. Repeat this step for the other side as well.
Step 9: Now fold the tip of the triangle to touch the centre of the bottom edge and press it tightly.
Step 10: Keeping this folded tip pressed with the finger of one hand, use the other hand to open up the bowl.
Step 11: Allow all the creases to straighten up and then release the tip as well and let it open up.
