Wind Chimes trace their origin to ancient China where they were initially used as musical instruments. The music they produce is believed to transform the energy into one that brings health, wealth and prosperity. Though they can be made using various materials like sea shells, bamboo, glass, plastic etc. but metallic wind chimes are the simplest to make at home. These make excellent mother’s day present and can also be used as party favors.
Supplies Required
- Four light metallic measuring cups of varying sizes
- Acrylic Paints
- Fishing Line or Ribbon
- Paint Brush
- Paint Sealer
- Wire Whisk
Procedure to Make Metallic Wind Chimes
Step 1: Take the metallic cups and drill a hole on the handle of each cup if they already don’t have one.
Step 2: Paint a nice floral, geometric or abstract pattern on each cup with the acrylic paints. Use different matching or contrasting colors on each cup.
Step 3: Paint the wire whisk as well, in a desired color.
Step 4: Leave the cups and whisk to dry. Once the paint dries spray a paint sealer on the measuring cups and the wire whisk.
Step 5: Tie the fishing line or a ribbon, whatever looks best, to each measuring cup. Vary the length of the string for each cup. For instance, tie the smallest length of the string to the smallest cup and so on in an ascending order.
Step 6: Now tie the other end of the fishing line or ribbon to the wire whisk. Ensure that the knot is secure.
To get an extra tinkle you can string a few colored, silver or gold beads to the fishing line before tying the measuring cups to it.
