Making map holders for kids is an inexpensive and interesting craft activity. In fact, it is so easy to make map holders that kids can make them on their own. These make wonderful party favors for teenagers, come in handy when kids play a game of treasure hunt and can be used to keep maps safe while travelling and driving around.
Materials Needed
As pointed out earlier, this children’s craft is not too expensive to do. All you need is:
- Fun foam sheets
- Hot melt glue gun
- Scissors, and
- A String
Instructions
Step 1: Cut out a 12 inches wide and 17 inches long rectangular piece of fun foam sheet.
Step 2: Now, fold the 12 inch side of the foam sheet in the center like a greeting card. So you will have a foam sheet that is 6 inches wide and 17 inches long.
Step 3: Now, bring both the sides of the folded paper in the centre and leave them creased there.
Step 4: Glue the top and the bottom edges of the folded paper so you have two envelopes in front of you. When you fold your map holder these envelopes will be inside the fold.
Step 5: Fold the string in half and glue both the ends at the bottom center on the backside of the map holder.
Step 6: Cut out 2 circular pieces from the foam sheet of unequal diameter. Glue the smaller one on top of the glued ends of the string to secure them in place. Glue the larger circle of the fun foam sheet to the bottom center on the front side of the map holder, by applying a dot of glue at the bottom center.
Step 7: Cut out the alphabets of your name and other interesting shapes from the fun foam sheet and glue them on your map holder to decorate it.
The map holder for kids is ready. Whenever you need to wind it, just bring the string loop on the front side of the map holder and sing it around the circle.Read about following Children Crafts :
