Making graduation cap is a fairly simple craft that can be accomplished with very little effort and is inexpensive as well. A graduation cap makes a wonderful accessory to take graduation photographs in. It can be used as a prop for graduation party activities. A large sized graduation cap can also be used as a table centerpiece for a graduation party dinner. Your graduating friends will love to get a photograph clicked in your cap and take the photo home as a memento.

Instructions for Making a Graduation Cap

Step 1: Cut a rectangular strip of poster board that is about 5 to 6 inches wide and is long enough to go around your head.

Step 2: Place both the ends of the strip one on top of the other (so as to overlap about 1 inch) and staple them together securely.

Step 3: Fold the bottom edge of this piece about 1\2 an inch.

Step 4: Cut a large square piece measuring 12x12 inches from the remaining poster board.

Step 5: Glue the folded edge of the circular piece in the centre of the square piece of poster board. Let the glue dry.

Step 6: While traditionally a graduation cap is black in color, you can paint your cap in your school colors or any other color(s) of your choice. Now, let the paint dry completely.

Step 7: Attach a tassel made of ribbon or yarn on one corner of the square.

Step 8: As a finishing touch write your school or college year on the cap with a golden marker.

Your graduation cap is ready to be worn!
