If you are looking to add an extra personal touch to your wedding, then a handmade ring bearer pillow is the perfect wedding craft for you. This craft requires little sewing skills and makes a beautiful wedding day memory keepsake that can be passed on to family heirlooms.
Materials That You Will Need
- Two white or off-white lace handkerchiefs
- Three faux pearls
- A strip of 1\4 inch silver or gold ribbon
- Silver or Golden paint pen
- Polyester fiberfill
- Needle and thread for sewing
- Lucky charms
Instructions
Step 1: Thread three faux pearls through a 1.5 feet long ribbon. Place one pearl in the centre of the ribbon and secure it with two knots on its sides. Place the other two pearls on the outer ends of the ribbon and secure them with knots as well, to prevent them from falling off.
Step 2: Take one handkerchief and write down the initials of your and your husband's name on it, using silver\gold paint pen. Letters in a Victorian design look quite elegant.
Step 3: Once the paint dries, iron both the handkerchiefs carefully and place them on top of each other, wrong sides in. Use safety pins to pin them together, making sure that the lace edges meet.
Step 4: Now, stitch three sides and 2 inches of the fourth side together using whip stitch.
Step 5: Stuff the pillow with polyester fiberfill till it attains a desired thickness. And hand stitch the fourth side as well.
Step 6: Now, take the ribbon prepared earlier and place its central pearl in the middle of the pillow. Use a thread to sew the ribbon next to the centre pearl on the pillow. Catch the needle on the back side of the pillow and pull it taut to create a fuller looking pillow. Again, sew through the pillow to the other side and pull the thread taut through the ribbon. Continue to go back and forth through the pillow several times and finish at the back.
Step 7: Let the strands of the ribbon hang down. On the wedding day, tie the rings loosely to these strands and place the rings on the pillow.
Your beautiful handmade ring bearer pillow is ready.
