Instructions for Making Fabric Lunch Sack
Step 1: Cut a 12 to 16 inch long section from the bottom of one leg of the jeans. Turn in inside out so the wrong side of the fabric faces you.
Step 2: Cut a circular piece from the remaining pant, 1\2 inch larger in diameter than the leg’s circumference.
Step 3: Sew the circular piece on the bottom of the cut out fabric with the wrong side facing out. This will form the bottom of your fabric lunch sack.
Step 4: Fold about 1\2 inch strip from the top of the leg and sew it to form a casing. Thread a 3 foot long cord through it. Tie knots on both the ends of the cords to prevent it from sliding inside the casing. You can add a bead at both the ends of this cord to embellish it.
Step 5: Now, turn the bag inside out and adorn it with patches, buttons, paints or embroidery in a desired pattern. You can embroider or paint your name or your mom’s name on the bag to personalize it.
In order to insulate this lunch sack you can stitch a piece of fabric lining such as nylon wind breaker weight and a thin but dense batting on the inside of the bag. This will keep the lunch box warm and safe. You can just sponge off the lining if it gets dirty.
