One likes to just sit down on a free day to go through the old Christmas memorabilia and get nostalgic. More often than not Christmas letters and cards end up as trash since we fail to find a way to store, organize and preserve them. It is here that the craft of making Christmas keepsake albums comes handy. It doesn’t take much time and costs virtually nothing extra to make this wonderful album that will take you down the memory lane.
Supplies Needed
- Dark red cardstock
- Christmas cards and letters you wish to preserve
- Decoupage
- A two-hole or three-hole punch
- Wide holiday fabric ribbon and bows
- Scissors
Instructions
Step 1: Cut out little characters, scenes, holiday greetings and even signatures of loved ones from the Christmas cards in different shapes and sizes.
Step 2: Arrange these cut outs on the cardstock making a collage out of them. You can make two such collages one for the front and the other for the back cover of your album.
Step 3: Apply these cut outs on the cardstock using decoupage. Now, there are two types of decoupage available in the market, one that gives you an antique finish and the other that gives you a glossy finish, you can use any one of these to get the desired finish.
Step 4: Let the decoupage dry for 10 minutes and then give another coat. In fact, you can give the covers as many coats as you want to make them sturdier.
Step 5: Once the covers dry, punch holes in them.
Step 6: Arrange the Christmas letters from the oldest to the most recent ones and punch holes on their sides as well.
Step 7: Place these letters between the album covers and tie them together by lacing a ribbon through them. Tie big red bows to hold them together.
Your Christmas keepsake album is ready! You can insert new letters in it each year. Also read about these following album:
