Christmas cat angel makes an interesting Christmas tree ornament. This soft furry animal with a golden halo and lace wings looks extremely adorable and makes excellent Christmas party favors. It is quite easy to make and even kids can make them with some help from adults.
Supplies Needed
- White furry fleece
- Polyester fiber fill
- Thick pink embroidery thread
- Scissors
- Glue
- Golden braid
- Starched white lace
- Chalk
- Pink and black felt
- Needle
- Thread
Instructions
Step 1: Use a chalk to draw a ‘U’ on the wrong side of the fleece. The sides of the ‘U’ should taper slightly and make a shallow ‘V’ to join its sides. The ‘U’ makes the cat’s body and the ‘V’ makes its ears and face.
Step 2: Cut out two pieces of this pattern and sew them together, leaving an opening at the neck.
Step 3: Cut out small pieces of pink felt. Turn the fleece fabric stitched together inside out and stitch this felt on it to make the inside ears.
Step 4: Cut out pink and black felt in small rounds. Black felt should be smaller than pink felt. Stitch these on the cat’s face to make its eyes.
Step 5: Use pink thread to embroider cat’s nose, mouth and whiskers.
Step 6: Stuff polyester fiberfill in the cat’s face and stitch close the opening.
Step 7: Cut two long, narrow, rectangular pieces of fleece and stitch their wrong sides together to make the cat’s tail. Turn it inside out and then fill it with fiberfill.
Step 8: Similarly, cut eight smaller rectangular pieces to make the cats leg. Take care that they are in proportion to its body. Stitch them and stuff them as in Step 7.
Step 9: Now sew the cat’s head, body, legs and tail together.
Step 10: Make wings out of the starched lace and sew them on the cat’s back.
Step 11: As a finishing touch to your Christmas cat angel glue a golden braid on top of its head to resemble a halo.
