Cereal Box Puppet Theatre

SocialTwist Tell-a-Friend

A small cereal box puppet theatre is a nice idea to keep kids and toddlers entertained. You can hold the puppet theatre in one hand and use the other hand for putting on shows with finger puppets, Popsicle stick puppets and puppets on a straw. Enact your child’s favorite bedtime stories and encourage them to use it as well. This will not only be a source of enjoyment for them, but also an educative and learning experience. You can use the puppet theatre to entertain kids with a puppet show at a birthday party.

Materials Needed

  • A large, empty cereal box
  • Old newspapers
  • A Pencil
  • Paint brush
  • Poster color of any shade
  • Colored construction paper or a fabric piece to make stage curtains
  • Glue
  • A pair of scissors

Instructions

Step 1: Cover your work place with old news papers to prevent it from getting marred by scratches, paint splashes and stains.

Step 2: Take the cereal box and cut its top off. This will make the bottom of your puppet theatre. Now ask your child to paint the box with a poster color of his\her choice. Let the paint dry completely.

Step 3: To make the stage of your theater, cut a rectangular hole on the front side of the box. Make sure you leave 2 inches space on each side to prevent the box from falling apart.

Step 4: Draw and cut out curtains for your theater using colored construction paper or some fabric. Cut out a tiny rectangular piece of contrasting color paper and glue it to the centre of the curtain to pretend for a curtain tie back. If you have made fabric curtains, use a twist-tie as a tie back.

Your small cereal box puppet theatre is ready to enthrall its tiny wide-eyed audience. Read about these following Boxes Crafts :
