So, you are going for a house warming party and don't know what present to give. Try a homemade Beaded Wreath. It is relatively expensive, but easy to make and looks quite original and beautiful.
Materials Required
- Styrofoam
- Paint brushes ( 1 1\2 inch and 1\2 inch)
- Cranberry red acrylic paint
- Cranberry red beads of three different sizes
- Three shallow containers
- One plastic disposable container
- Craft glue
- Adornments such as holly leaves, pine cones and silk flowers
- Flat work surface
- Newspapers
- Straight metal pins with flat heads
- Strong cardboard
- Wide ribbon of any color
Instructions
Step 1: Cover your work surface with newspapers to prevent it from split paint or scratches.
Step 2: Pour a small amount of acrylic paint in a disposable plastic dish.
Step 3: Paint the flat heads of the metal pins using 1\2 inch paint brush. Stick these on a piece of Styrofoam and let them dry.
Step 4: Cut out a circular piece of an appropriate diameter from the Styrofoam. To convert it into a wreath cut a smaller circle in its centre.
Step 5: Sort out the beads and place them in different shallow containers according to their size.
Step 6: Put one bead in one pin and attach it on the front of the Styrofoam. Cover the entire surface of the Styrofoam in a similar fashion, without leaving empty spaces between them. You can stick these pins in different fashions to create a 3-D effect. For instance, you can cover the outer circle with the biggest of beads and the innermost with the smallest.
Step 7: Cut out the cardboard in the size of the wreath or a little smaller and paste it on the back of the wreath to brace it properly.
Step 8: Paint all the edges and sides of the wreath with red acrylic paint using 1 1\2 inch brush and let it dry.
Step 9: Make a bow out of the ribbon and stick it on the base of the wreath. Stick the silk flowers, pine cones and holly leaves on the sides of the bow to decorate the wreath further.
Your beaded wreath is ready to be presented. You can also place it on your front door on a house warming party.
