Repainting your bathroom not only changes the look, but also the feel of the room; and is not that expensive of a design change to make either. Another change that you might consider is the moldings around the doors, windows (if applicable) and along the floor. Changing these from time to time is also not that expensive to do and can indeed make a big difference in the look and feel of that small bathroom design. Another possible change to think about is the shower curtain or shower door. If you have had your shower curtain for any length of time, you might want to consider getting a new on and changing the color and/or design on that shower curtain. For those with shower doors; you can do some frosted glass etching or use stick-on that are specifically designed to be used in the bathroom, like those meant for use in the bath tub.
Other small bathroom design changes that help
If you are trying to create the look of more space than is actually there you might want to buy a set of shelves that go over the toilet. Not only does this add extra places to put small items; it also adds to the overall design of the room itself. Changing the color of your bathroom door by repainting or staining it a different color is another small idea that creates a big change. Get very colorful storage bins or boxes that you decorate with contact paper is a great way to store thing that you do not need right away. Placing those in a corner adds to the overall design too.
