Creating kitchen curtains according to your imagination is a fabulous idea. It is not only a cost effective idea but also gives the opportunity to display your talent. Making kitchen curtains is not a huge task but a simple one and you can make these curtains according to your own choice. So, read on this article to find out how to make kitchen curtains.

The first step is to measure your kitchen window. Take accurate measurement of both length and breadth of the window. Thereafter, the most important thing is the selection of the fabric. Choose a fabric according to your choice and requirement. Quilted fabrics shrink very early, hence it is better to avoid them. Don’t go for silk also as it loses colour quickly. The best option is either cotton or linen. The quantity of the fabric bought should be twice the height and thrice the width of the window. The extra cloth will easily be used in hemming all the four sides of the curtains.

Before starting stitching, it is advisable to wash the fabric to make it pre-shrink. Thereafter cut the material according to the measurement and including extra four inches in breadth and five inches in length.

Then, sew a three inch hem on the edge of each curtain. Leave the bottom for the last. If you want curtains with rings, then stitch a ring to every curtain panel by keeping some distance between all the rings. You can also opt for clips in case you don’t want to stitch. These clips can be easily attached and then the rings can be fixed to them.

For simple curtains, you have to create a sleeve like thing by sewing along the foot of the rim towards the core part of the curtain. Then hang the curtains to check the length and put marks with pins or erasable pen. Thereafter do the bottom hemming as per the marked length. One important point to keep in mind before stitching is to press the curtains so that the sewing can be done with perfection. Press the curtains after hanging also.
