The treatments are altered if they do not work properly. Treatments like vulvar care are necessary. A woman should avoid all types of synthetic wears and irritants like detergent, perfumes and shampoo. The underwear should be made of cotton and cleaning of the genitals should be done with clear water only. The vulva should be cleaned after urination. Steroids, antidepressants, estrogens and anesthetics drugs are suggested for treating the disease. These drugs are available as pills and injections. As this disease is related with the kidney stones, a person should have diet that contains lower quantity of oxates. Sitting continuously for a great period should be avoided. Counseling for stress and pain management should be done to get cured from the disease.

A person should not hide if any of the symptoms prevail. She should consult a doctor and follow the advices given by him. Sexual activities should be practiced in a safe way. A person should avoid this type of activities if there is any pain or discomfort. Oral sex is not very painful. In this case, patients may also consult a sex therapist.
