Eczema

Eczema is a skin disease that can erupt in any part of the body. When a person suffers from eczema the skin actually gets inflamed. The inflammation actually takes in the upper portion of the skin. The skin gets very dry and rashes appear on the upper layers of the skin.

The dryness and the rashes are one of the common symptoms of eczema. The skin turns red and it itches a lot. As the skin itches a lot the upper layers of the skin starts to crack and the skin starts to flake. If the condition is severe then the skin starts to bleed. If the disease is too severe then the skin tends to discolor.

Types of Eczema

The eczema is a great source of physical discomfort. The type of eczema is mostly described by the area where they occur. The eczema which occurs in the hand region is known as hand eczema. A specific type of eczema is known as the craquele eczema. Sometimes eczema occurs due to presence of hereditary factors.

This type of eczema is known as atopic eczema. People suffering from this eczema are also prone to asthma and fever. In such cases the rashes appear on the noticeable area of the body. It appears on the neck, face, inside of elbows, scalp and buttocks. The people residing in the developed countries are more prone to the disease of eczema.

Eczema Symptoms

The common symptom of eczema is the dry and itchy skin. The skin tends to become very and due to constant itching the skin gets inflamed and blood starts to ooze out. The condition is really painful.

It occurs mostly in the wrists, knees and the elbow region. The babies are also affected by the eczema mostly on the cheek region. Sometimes babies are affected by the disease just after their birth but as they grow the disease tend to disappear. It sometimes reappears as soon as they become adults. Severity of the disease can be curtailed if certain precautions are taken by the patients.

Causes of Eczema

Eczema is also caused due to contact. Sometimes the eczema occurs due to the constant use of soap as well as detergents and perfumes leads to some inflammation on the skin. The eczema also affects the scalp area. This eczema is known as the seborrhoeic.

The case is so severe that it sometimes leads to circular patches on the body. Emotional as well as physical stress leads to the severity of the disease. Changes in the weather conditions as well as eating habits also leads to eczema. There are certain bacteria that are held responsible for the occurrence of eczema. With a little amount of scratching, the skin breaks up and allows the bacteria to get inside and create irritation.

Diagnosis of Eczema

The diagnosis is mainly done after seeing the inflamed skin. The doctor before giving the final verdict takes a review of the family history. The dietary and the lifestyle habits of the patient is taken into consideration. Sometimes skin gets flared up due to some allergy and it is thought to be as eczema.

All these things are taken into consideration before the doctor starts treating for eczema. Blood tests are also conducted to determine the antibodies level in the blood. Those people who have a known family history of eczema should never take the smallpox vaccine as it may trigger the virus responsible for causing eczema.

Eczema Treatment

Certain things have to be kept in mind when suffering from eczema. Constant scratching of the affected area should be avoided. This leads to the less severity of the disease. It would be advisable to wear cotton clothes as synthetic dress lead to irritation of the skin.

A person suffering from eczema should try to avoid stress as much as possible. The skin should be moisturized daily so the flacks of the skin tend to disappear. The treatment that is advised by the doctor should be strictly followed. It is the adults who are more likely to get affected by eczema.
