If you're buying a jewelry item for a guy, you would most likely want to give him a watch. Some men wear other jewelry, but a watch is the most common. If you are buying a piece of jewelry for a woman on Valentine's Day, a necklace, bracelet or pair of earrings would be great choices. Also, any jewelry item with hearts on it would be a nice touch for her.

If you want to give a creative and unique gift to your significant other, on Valentine's Day, you could give them a "message in a bottle". There are specialty stores and various internet retailers that sell them, but you could make your own if you wanted to. All you need to do, is write a message on a piece of paper, roll it up like a scroll, put inside an empty bottle, sprinkle some flower petals into the bottle with the note, put the top back on the bottle, put the bottle inside of a velvet pouch, and then it's ready to give as a gift.

Finally, if you can't decide what to give for a gift, or you want to give something extra in addition to a gift, you could treat your loved one out to dinner at their favorite restaurant. It would probably be a wise idea to make a reservation ahead of time, since many restaurants will be full on Valentine's Day.
