Do you have a friend, co-worker or family member who has recently moved into a new house? Do you want to give a housewarming gift, but aren't sure what you should get? If so, then read these suggestions and hopefully you will get a better idea of what to buy.
First, you will want to consider how well the new homeowner is established. Have they lived in a house before? If so, then they probably already have the essentials, such as kitchen appliances and so forth. However, if this is their first home, then starting out by giving an essential item is a good idea. Essential items include kitchen appliances, such as silverware, plates, bowls and glasses. Also, common household items, such as towels, rugs, candles and curtains would be good gift ideas. They may appreciate a book, such as one on landscaping, interior design or cooking also.
The new homeowner may also appreciate something they can eat or drink, so you could consider giving a gourmet food, such as a lobster or a steak, and/or a bottle of fine wine. Moving on, you might want to think about the outdoor needs of the person. A plaque with the last name of the new homeowner, a planter for the garden, a doormat or a bench, would all be nice outdoor gift possibilities. Also, for the indoors, a houseplant would be a good idea as well.
Finally, if the new homeowner is new to the area, you could think of a gift that would help them get better acquainted with their neighborhood and surroundings. Some examples of these gifts would be a subscription to the local newspaper, tickets to a local sports game or concert, and a gift certificate for a local restaurant.
Hope you've found these ideas to be helpful and you will consider them in making your housewarming gift purchase.
