Instructions To MakeGarden Cornhusk Doll

Step 1: Dip the corn husk and the ear of garden corn in warm water so they become flexible enough to take the desired shape. You can color them with the desired dye, though it is a little time consuming.

Step 2: Bend the cornhusks on the ear of the garden corn over the cob and place a small ball inside the corn husk to make the head of the doll. Tie a piece of yarn under it to secure it in place.

Step 3: Braid three husk together to make the arms of the doll. Insert it through the cornhusk just below the head. Dab a little glue to hold them in place.

Step 4: Tie another piece of yarn a few inches below the arms to make the doll’s body.

Step 5: The remaining part of the cob will make the doll’s skirt. Trim its edges so the doll can stand on its skirt.

Step 6: Stick some corn silk on the doll’s head to make her hair. You can use the felt pen to draw the doll’s features on her face.

Step 7: To make a cornhusk boy doll divide the skirt in half up to the place you made the waist of the doll. Wind a long thin piece of corn husk around each leg and tuck the ends into the winding. Use corn silk to make the boy doll’s hair and felt pen to make his features.

Using this simple method you can make a whole garden cornhusk doll family. Just vary the size of the dolls to make adults and kids.
