Thanksgiving Day

 Thanksgiving Day is a harvest festival, mainly celebrated in western countries. But due to its generalization and globalization, celebration of this festival is not limited to western countries. Awareness about this festival is growing fast.

Significance of Thanksgiving Day:

Thanksgiving Day is celebrated to thank God for whatever HE has bestowed on us. This day is observed to feel gratitude for God’s benevolence. Another significance of this festival is to seek God’s blessings for good autumn harvest.

When is Thanksgiving Day celebrated?

 Thanksgiving Day is celebrated on fourth Thursday of November every year. In United States , it is a four-day long weekend. Friday following the Thanksgiving Day is known as “Black Friday”. This marks the official beginning of Christmas season. As this is the time for highest volume of sales in US, Black Friday is given the name because of accounting practice of writing profit in black ink.

 Celebration of Thanksgiving Day: 

Thanksgiving Day was originated in US; it is celebrated with great fervour and joy. People go berserk on shopping of clothes, toys, gifts, eatables. It is the time for family reunion, family dinner and feasts. It is the time thank God, along with entire family, for his grace and all happiness.

Thanksgiving Day Traditions:

There are many traditions associated with Thanksgiving Day. On this day, families get together and offer prayers to God. Also they exchange gifts with each other.

 Family Reunion and Feasting

One of the most important traditions of Thanksgiving is family reunion and feast. All the people sit together for dinner and thank God for His grace. Friends and relatives come over and celebrate together.

Traditional Turkey :

Traditional stuff turkey is the most important dish on dinner table on Thanksgiving Day. Other things cooked on this day are Cranberry Sauce, Pumpkin Pie, Corns and some more.

Decorating Homes :

People decorate their homes with fresh or dry flower wraths.

Sending Messages:

For this day, people send messages with warm wishes.
