Republic Day

In India, Republic Day is a national festival of great importance. In national capital of India, New Delhi, it is celebrated with great pomp and display. This festival creates feeling of patriotism in people of India who are otherwise always busy in their businesses.

Date of republic Day celebrations:

Republic Day is celebrated on 26 th January every year.

History of Republic Day:

For hundreds of years, India was under the colonial rule of British Empire. Countless freedom fighters fought for the freedom of India. On December 31, 1929, during Lahore session of Indian national Congress, Indian tri-colour was unfurled and a pledge was taken that January 26 will be observed as “Republic Day” every year. On January 26, 1950, constitution of free Indian came into force. Constitution of India was framed by the Constituent assembly of India. It took more than two years to get ready after the independence of India on 15 th August, 1947.

Republic Day celebrations:

Republic Day is celebrated in very grand way in the New Delhi, the capital of India.

Thousands of spectators gather around Rajpath to witness the celebrations of Republic Day. All the important dignitaries also arrive there. A guest of honor is also invited to venue to be part of our national celebration.

Battery of events starts early in the morning with the President of India accepts the salute of contingents of Armed forces. Then march past of armed forces, all the artillery show, state tableaux, folk dances by tribal of different states, students from different schools of India present cultural programs. On this day, one can experience the truth of the statement about India, “unity in diversity”.

Republic Day parade is ended with number of jet planes leaving behind tri-colored smoke in interesting mosaic. Three days later on 29 th January, mass band of the Armed forces “Beat the Retreat” at Vijay Chowk in New Delhi.

At night, all the important buildings are brightly lit. Republic Day parade of India is one of the most spectacular one in the whole world.
