A child needs the love, affection and support of both parents for proper development of his or her personality. But sometimes it happens that a woman has to play the role of both parents and he is known as the single mother. A woman can be a single mother by choice or after getting divorce or if her husband passes away and she becomes widow. Being a single mother is a very difficult task. It is very challenging to rear up a child in the perfect way alone without husband’s support. If a woman is a single mother, she should become strong and must be able to face this huge world alone with grace. It is not to say that a single mother can not be a successful parent but she has to learn the skill of single parenthood.

The first challenge for a single mother is that she should be able to support her children financially. But at the same time, she should take care that stress of overwork does not affect your children.
Another task is having the perfect communication between your kids and you. You should be able to spend quality time with your kids.
You should always be there with your kids when hey need you most like at a PTA meeting or prize ceremony at school.
In case you are a divorcee, do not turn your kids against your ex-husband who may be a good father to his kids. This way your kids will be emotionally stable.
You may be a single mother by choice but never hide any fact about the father of the kid and again do not turn your kid against his father.
Being a single mother often creates insecurities in the mother and it leads to overprotection of her child. This overprotection becomes suffocating for the kids and they are not able grow properly. So take relief from your insecurities and let the child have its own pace of growth.
