Story Line
Nine Months is a well made movie which depicts how a totally carefree guy transforms into a matured and responsible person when faced with responsibilities and expectations. The movie stars Hugh Grant and Julliane Moore in the lead roles of Samuel Faulkner and Rebecca Faulkner.
Samuel is a child psychiatrist who had no responsibilities to take care of and enjoyed a carefree life. Yet to become a father he got the shock of a lifetime when his girlfriend of five years (Rebecca Taylor) conceived his child. Samuel starts getting nightmare of dreams about his impending fatherhood and married life. Adding to his nightmare is Rebecca’s friend Gail Dwyer (Joan Cusack). Not finding him ready to don the mettle of father and husband, he asked Rebecca to abort the child but she didn’t dither from her plans of motherhood. Later on, seeing the ultrasound of his baby son, he realizes that he wants to enjoy and take up the responsibility of fatherhood. Robin Williams in the role of Dr. Kosevich, an obstrecian trickles some funny bones in the movie with his weak grasp of English language. The movie very beautifully shows how he takes care of his pregnant wife and their soon to be born son for a full nine months. The movie sends a strong message of how a set of responsibilities can transform a boy to man. The movie Nine Months is an abject lesson for all the wannabe bachelors who are planning to settle down as a husband and a father.
