SocialTwist Tell-a-Friend

She was named Mary, after Mariam, the famous sister of Moses. According the popular notions, it is said she was born in Jerusalem ( Israel ), to Joachim and Ann. Some people differ and say she was born in Nazareth . Her folks were God fearing people.

Mary lived in a village called Galilee , in a house of mud and stone. Her life was as normal as of other girls in the village. She ground wheat, cooking food consisting of vegetable, egg, fruits, nuts etc as also mutton sometime. She converted wool into clothes, looking after cattle and of course small children in the house. She carried water from well daily for household needs. That well is now famous as “Mary’s Well”. Mother Mary learned a lot about life from the people of Nazareth . They were simple people, full of life in spite of shortages associated in poor people’s lives.

Mother Mary’s Faith

The Israelis had a strong Jewish faith and in spite of being ruled by foreigners, they waited for a messiah to come and free them. The faith of Mary was no different. At an age of 15, she was engaged to Joseph (a carpenter) of Nazareth , to be married a year later.

The Annunciation

But the Almighty had different plans for her. He sent an angel named Gabriel to convey his message. It was God’s wishes that she give birth to a holy child by the name of JESUS. Mary, the virgin, conceived JESUS CHRIST and became known as “MOTHERMARY”. People brought shame to Mother Mary on her being a mother without the marriage. But the angel instructed Joseph to take Mary as his wife. When God had asked Joseph to do so, he gladly followed.

They went to the town of Bethlehem where Mother Mary gave to the holy child nine months after annunciation by the angel. She wrapped him in swaddling clothes and sat in the manger. Out there in the countryside there were a few shepherds managing their herds in the starry night. Suddenly there was a bright light in the sky and an announcement made about the arrival of the “Son of God”.

The shepherds hurried to the manger and found for themselves the holy child. The shepherds informed the whole town about the treasure they had just discovered. MotherMary treasured all these things and got elated in heart and soul.
