Merry Christmas
Christmas is celebrated in whole world with great fervor and joy. Christmas celebrated the birth anniversary of Lord Jesus Christ. This day spreads the message of love, brotherhood and tolerance. Though it is a Christian festival but people of other religions also celebrate it with equal joy because of its universal appeal. There are no strict customs and rituals to be followed while celebrating Christmas. This festival is for merry making and enjoying.
This is a festival which celebrates humanity and mankind. Christmas is a primary festival of Christian calendar but it is a popular festival. It is celebrated on the 25 th December every year. In 300 A.D., 25 th December was acknowledged as the birth date of Jesus Christ. Real date of birth of Jesus Christ is not known.
In India , Christmas has special significance as being a secular nation; it has become part of very Indian culture. People of other religions also celebrate this festival because of its secular nature. Besides a religious festival, Christmas has become a commercial festival because of huge commercial value attached to everything associated with Christmas.
Preparations for Christmas celebrations start as early as in October. People start purchasing lots of things like clothes, decorations, gifts, jewelry and lot of other things. This is all to celebrate Christmas. People, especially kids wait eagerly for the arrival of Christmas. Christmas is celebrated in chilly cold of winter’s holidays; 25 th December is regarded as the coldest day of the winters.
Christmas celebrations start on the eve of Christmas, from 24 th December. Shops, malls, houses and churches are decorated with lights, stars, snowflakes, mistletoe and illuminated Christmas trees. People visit churches with their whole family and sing carols and seek blessings from the Lord. They light candles and decorate with Christmas wreath. People throw parties and have dinner together to enjoy the festivities. Soft music, cakes, cookies, candies and riot of vibrant colors is the theme of Christmas festivities.
