INDEPENDENCE DAY OF INDIA

 Independence Day is one of the most important national festivals of India . This is complete national holiday and all the offices, shops, schools and colleges are closed on this day. Over the years, festival of Independence Day has become like any other important festival of India . People of India wait eagerly for the Independence Day. This festival is celebrated by the people of every religion, caste, creed and every state. This festival brings equality among all; all are citizens of India .

When is Independence Day celebrated?

Independence Day is celebrated in India on the August 15 every year.

History of Independence Day:

India was under the British rule for hundreds of years. People of India revolted against the slavery of outsiders. Indian freedom movement started in the mid of 19 th century. It boiled up and many people sacrificed their lives in this movement for independence of India . After the contribution and sacrifice of numberless people of India , India eventually got freedom on 15 th August, 1947 .

Celebration of Independence Day:

National festival of Independence Day is celebrated with great joy and fervor. All the important government buildings are brightly lit on this occasion. Prime Minister of India communicates with citizens of India by giving a speech from Red Fort. Red Fort is an important monument which was the venue for many events of freedom movement. Prime Minister conveys his message to citizens of India and tells about future plans for the progress of India .

Besides this, flag hoisting ceremony is performed and many cultural programs are organized for this day. Flag hoisting ceremony and cultural programs are also held in state capitals and important organizations. In schools also, flag hoisting ceremony is performed amidst the staff and the students.

Common people also show great enthusiasm on this day and they celebrate Independence Day by flying kites. Soaring kites symbolize freedom.
