Hanukkah Recipes
It is the Jewish festival of lights and is day for some great, delicious dishes. There are some easy to prepare yet tasty recipes for Hanukah.
Potato Pancakes:
You will need:
Large Potatoes- 4
Medium Onion – 1
Large Egg – 1
Salt- 1 tsp
White Pepper – ½ tsp
All-purpose Flour – 1 tbsp
Baking powder – 1/2 tsp
Oil for frying
Method:
Grate potatoes and onion and squeeze out their juice. Take a large bowl and mix egg, pepper, salt, flour, baking powder, potato and onion in it. Take a flat frying pan and heat oil over it. Spread potato mixture over it to a 2 ½ to 3 inches in diameter. Turn its side and cook till both sides are golden brown. Remove them from fire and drain on a paper towel. Before spreading next pancake, beat the batter well. Serve hot.
Spicy Walnut Recipe:
You will need:
Walnut halves- 1 cup
Sugar- ½ cup
Water – ¼ cup
Ground Cinnamon – ½ tsp
Ground red pepper
Cooking spray
Method:
Set oven at 350°C. Spread walnuts in single layer on a baking sheet. Bake them for ten minutes till golden brown. Take a saucepan, put sugar, ground cinnamon, red pepper and water in it. Do not stir while cooking and cook it for 8 minute. Stop cooking and stir in walnuts. Coat a baking sheet with cooking spray and pour walnut mixture on it. Crush it into small pieces after cooling it.
Hanukkah Doughnuts:
To prepare this, you will need:
Flour – 1 2/3 Cup
Sour Cream – 1 Cup
Beaten Eggs – 2
Sugar – 2 Tbsp
Baking Powder – 1 tsp
Powdered Sugar – 1 cup
Salt – ½ tsp
Oil for frying
Method:
Take a large bowl and mix all the things except sugar and oil. Take a frying pan and heat oil in it. Take 1 tbsp of mixture at one time and place it in oil. Fry for five minutes and drain out on a paper towel. Now roll the doughnut in powdered sugar.
