GAYATRI MANTRA
Gayatri Mantra is the divine Vedic prayer which can invoke spirituality in a person. Vedas are most ancient scriptures, which contain the fountain of divine knowledge in them.
Gayatri Mantra is chanted like
OM Bhur-Bhuvah-Svah.
Tat savitur varenyam
bhargo devasva dhimahi.
Dhiyo yo nah pracodayat
This can be translated as
We meditate on the glory of the Creator;
who has created the Universe;
who is worthy of Worship;
who is the embodiment of Knowledge and Light;
who is the remover of all Sin and Ignorance;
May He enlighten our Intellect.
Gayatri Mantra has three parts; praising the God, Meditation and Prayer. God is praised in first part, and then we meditate with complete devotion to the God and then we pray to request him to enlighten our intellect.
Gayatri Mantra is supreme of all deities and should not be linked with any particular religion, group, place, time or person. Om , Bhuh, Bhuvah, Swah, Thath, Savithur, Varenyam, Bhargo and Devasya are the words which praise God and Dheemahi invokes meditation and prayer is performed by Dhiyo, Yo, Nah and Prachodayaath.

Gayatri Mantra is recited with a particular tone and accent. Right recitation produce particular kind of vibrations which energise the body, mind, soul and the surrounding atmosphere. When it is chanted with total immersion in Divine form, it produces visible illumination in the atmosphere which is known as “Brahmprakasha’.
According to Vedas, Gayatri Matra should be recited at least three times a day. It should be chanted once in the morning while taking bath, in the noon before having meals and once at the time of sunset. Best time to chant Gayatri Mantra is 4 am to 8 am and 4 pm to 8 pm ; this is the ‘Satvik’ or pure time to worship.
