Friendship Day

Friendship Day is the celebration of the Friendship, a cordial relationship between two persons. As human is a social animal and everybody needs a Friend. Friendship Day is the celebration of this enchanted relationship so that you can make your friend feel special on this day. Friendship is a very noble relation and there is no age bar between two persons.

First Sunday of August was declared as a holiday in US in honor of friends by a Proclamation made by US Congress in 1935 . At that time, it was taken very enthusiastically by everybody in US. But, soon it was not restricted to The US only and other countries also started celebrating it with full joy and festivity. Now it is very popular especially among kids and young people who do not want to miss it any year.

Friendship Day is celebrated in different ways to renew the kind bond. People exchange gifts, send friendship greeting cards or sometimes just send the emails. On this Day, especially kids, exchange and wear Friendship Band in their hand which signifies that they honor and like their friend. Many social organizations also celebrate Friendship by arranging number of cultural event and get together. However, it is not important how one celebrates it but what is remarkable is the idea behind the celebration of the day. Everywhere, people express love for their friends and cherish their presence in life.

The Friendship Day is not only restricted to renew old friendship. This is also the day when somebody can start a new Friendship. People do this by sending Yellow Rose flowers to the person whom they want to make friend.

After declaration of the Friendship on first Sunday of August every year, there are other days designated to celebrate similar occasions. Some of them are:

• International Friendship Month is February
• Old Friends, New Friends Week is the third week of May
