Children's Day

Children’s Day in India is much pampered day. This is the fun day when children are the most pampered ones with goodies and toys. It is day to celebrate children’s festivals. The adults in making, children are the future of the nation. This day is to celebrate identity of children. It celebrates childhood, the most precious part of one’s life. This day is observed to commemorate the great national leader, Pandit Jawahar Lal Nehru.

History of Children’s Day :

In actual, this day is the birth anniversary of great leader of nation and first Prime Minister of India, Pandit Jawahar Lal Nehru. He vigorously took part in fight for freedom of India . He was person who supported Mahatama Gandhi and laid foundation for a progressive and strong India of today.

Apart from being a national leader of stature, he used to spend lot of time with small children. He was very fond of children and he believed that happy and healthy children can only build a strong nation of the future. Children also loved him very much and he was fondly called “Chacha Nehru” or Nehru Uncle. He is still remembered like it by children. After his demise in 1964, his birthday was declared as being Children’s Day.

Celebrations Of children’s Day:

Children’s Day is celebrated by children and for the children. Children’s Day is celebrated mainly in schools and at the children centers. National Children Centre is named after him as Jawahar Bal Bhawan.

Children’s Day is not a holiday but actually children want to attend school on that day. This day is filled with fun, laughter and excitement for children. Lots of cultural programs are organized in the schools by the children and for the children. Dance, music, drawing, painting, games, quizzes and other fun activities are organized. On Children’s Day, teachers disguise themselves as children and present dramas and dance shows for children.

The most fun part of Children’s Day is schools are open but children need not wear uniform and bring books to the school. Sweets are distributed and they can munch their favorite food.
