When living in a small space, there are a few things you probably want to consider. First, you will need to know how much furniture and decorations, etc; you can fit in your place, without making it seem too cluttered. Secondly, you may want to know what items you can get in smaller sizes, to give the illusion that your place is bigger than it actually is. Third, you probably want to find out which items you can find to coordinate/match with other items, and finally, what items can you get that are within your budget?
Fortunately, just because you may live in a small space, doesn't necessarily mean you have to give up many luxuries or can't keep up with the latest, trendy styles. If you have a small room, there are several things you can try, to make it appear larger and less confined. To start with, you can use bright, light colors for the walls. This will help the walls be more reflective, and enhance the effect created by natural light. Some colors you could consider are light green or cream beige. Next, you could add some mirrors to your room. Adding a large mirror in a room will reflect light around the room, and all also bounce light deep into a room, to make it appear larger. You could also consider using glass-front or mirrored cabinet doors. Moving on, it's a good idea to arrange the furniture in your room at angles. The reason behind this is that when you place your furniture at an angle, it leads the eye along the longer distance, instead of the shorter wall. In small rooms, you should use slim rockers, open-back chairs, or just a loveseat, rather than a full size couch.
Also, you should be aware that there are many furniture stores that specialize in furniture for apartments or mobile homes, so do some checking around. You may also find it helpful to pick up a book on interior decorating, which may provide some extra tips and ideas, as well.
