Living rooms are the way we show the world our ‘face’ or our inner self. This is the room that is frequented by visitors and the area from where they can form a judgment of you in an instant. If the living room is warm and welcoming, it will make the visitors want to visit you again and this in turn increases your popularity.
It does not matter what décor style you like formal, casual, traditional or modern, good Feng Shui in the living room will affect your social life, your personal relationships and ultimately your success.
The shape and size of the furniture in the living room should reflect the shape and size of the room. This basically means don’t over crowd the room. Also if the room is rectangular in shape then try to use pieces of furniture that are similar in shape, especially the coffee table.
As far as possible try to place the furniture against the walls of the living room. Try never to place any seating arrangement with its back placed to a window. The sofas and chairs should be so placed to encourage free flow of movement and not restrict.
Placing a side table between two chairs works at breaking down barriers between two people and is therefore recommended. Don’t place the chairs directly facing each other as this tends to give a feeling of a confrontation. Angle the chairs a little and place a side table between them
The living room is the room best suited for all the decorations to be used. Real or silk flowers are an asset when placed around the room. Just make sure that the real flowers don’t remain once they are dying and if you have silk flowers arranged then try to periodically clean them so that they are free of dust.
Display auspicious art on the walls of the living room and you can use display shelves to showcase any objects d’art that you may have. Try to keep the room well lit and ventilated and avoid over decorating it.
Good Feng shui in the living room is making your guests feel so comfortable and at home that they want to come back.
