Young Girls Can Body Build
Before we get into this article, we need to clarify that when we refer to girls in this article, we are referring to young women that are in their teenage years. But what is said in this article can apply to females of any age as many females are now realizing that they want to have fit, strong bodies just like men. Young women can benefit from bodybuilding much as young men; they just need to do things a bit different.
The first step for a girl when she decides to start body building is to set a goal for herself. She needs to figure out what she wants to get out of the activity. Most girls begin a body building program to lose weight while others want to sculpt their bodies. Some girls that partake in athletic activities body build to increase their performance.
For whatever reason the girl has chosen to start her body building program, she needs to keep a notebook and write her goals inside. She should also keep track of her routine and progress in the notebook. If she does not make a note of her goals she may lose motivation.
One difference between boys and girls is that girls do not produce the amount of testosterone that boys produce. But she shouldn’t worry; she doesn’t want to get as bulky as the boys do. Most girls are really just looking to shape their bodies and that does not need a lot of testosterone.
Young girls also need to consider the nutrition they are getting. They should consider taking an iron supplement since they lose blood when they menstruate. Take the iron supplement with a citrus drink to absorb the iron. They may also need to take a protein supplement since proteins help build muscles. And while we’re on the topic of supplements, young men and women shouldn’t take a testosterone replacement supplement because of the dangerous side effects.
When you get into your body building routine, it is important to allow your body to rest. When you lift weights you actually tear your muscles. The muscle mass happens when your body rests and allows the muscles to reshape and repair.
Young girls should meet with someone knowledgeable on weight lifting before they start a program. Look for routines that are designed for girls. As she accomplishes each routine she should make note of it in her notebook so that she can witness her progress. But her progress will be evident as she sees her body transform into something fit and toned.
