Why Women Should use Resistance Training
Many women are now incorporating resistance training to their routines. Sometimes they do it because they are part of a sports team. It is important for a woman to add some resistance training to her exercise routine because it will provide her with a healthy, strong body.
Before any woman begins to lift weights she should know how to correctly perform the exercises. Before a woman starts a resistance training routine she should try to reduce her weight by doing cardiovascular exercises such as running or walking.
Women tend to have a less muscular build than men. They are also able to lift less weight than men. And as their bodies get older, their strength decreases and their bodies weaken.
Resistance training is very beneficial to women. You don’t have to be a body builder or athlete to reap the benefits of a strong, toned body.
To get the blood flowing, start off with stretches or warm up exercises. These stretches will limit the chances of you injuring yourself during resistance training exercises.
By stretching your muscles prior to a resistance training workout you will also become more flexible. Perform a few repetitions of exercises and stretches before lifting weights. This will warm your muscles up.
When you are ready to start lifting weights, begin with the larger muscles groups and then move onto the smaller muscle groups. Then work on the isolated muscles. You can work your upper body by starting off with push-ups.
When you are ready to move onto the tricep muscles, start off with the larger muscle groups such as your glutes. You can work your glutes by doing squats, lunges or step-up. This will also work another large muscle group called your quadriceps.
When you work out, work opposing muscles to get a well-rounded and balanced look. After you have finished your tricep routine, switch over to biceps to round your upper arm out.
If you do stomach crunches to strengthen your stomach, flip over and do back extensions to build your lower back muscles.
It is important to rest after complete a resistance training routine. By allowing your muscles to rest you can reduce soreness and strain and allow the muscles to repair and rebuild themselves.
