1. Join a support group: It helps to have a group of likeminded people to discuss your weight loss plan. It gives you confidence and comfort in your attempt.

It is a source of comfort when you can lean on a support group when you get into a mode of not wanting to exercise. They can join hands and help you get back on track again. A support group can be family or friends.

In case you do not have such a network, you can join support systems that are drawn up for these causes, and interact directly or via the internet to get advice and tips and to help you in sticking to your weight loss plan.

2. Choosing a diet that allows you to cheat: It is possible for dieters to feel deprived and starved when on a diet. This makes them slack off and when the diet plan goes off the rail, they discontinue mid way and get back to gaining weight and feeling disgruntled.

Choose a diet that lets you cheat occasionally. This diet will allow you to binge and compensate the following day with meal suggestions and caloric intake.

3. Drink plenty of water: This rids the body of stored water reserves and speeds up metabolic activity. This in turn increases fat burn and results in weight loss. Also, water will not only quench your thirst but also suppress your appetite.

4. Choosing the right exercise program: Choosing an exercise program, which best suits your lifestyle and body requirements is important. It helps you to be consistent and to be able to sustain the pace in the long run.

5. Eliminate Stress: Stress is one of the major causes for weight gain. Stress leads to over eating. Emotional eating is the chief cause of weight gain. Try to engage in other activities, meditate, and try to avoid stress. This will result in a calmer sense of self and will prevent emotional eating.
