Weight Loss Diet Plans – The Misconceptions
Several misconceptions prevail regarding weight loss and how to effectively achieve it. However, the key is to keep yourself informed about these myths and stay on the path to a healthy weight loss.
Here is a list of some commonly misunderstood facts as well as some misconceptions surrounding weight loss.
If it is natural, it is safe
It is often misunderstood that all things that are labelled as natural are absolutely safe. This can cause some serious health problems because it is not necessary that everything natural is always safe.
You should always be careful about supposedly natural products, because sometimes these products are actually synthesised in the laboratory but are labelled as natural. Such products can cause you harm in the form of allergies or other side effects.
For example, the FDA has banned Ephedra because of its unhealthy effects. However, this has been often included in some of the products that cause weight loss. Therefore, you should be careful about such products.
Some natural products are known to be sources of Ephedra, so even though they are natural, they are still unhealthy.
Low fat is always good
It is alright to eat low fat food. However, if you overdo it then you might end up eating the same, if not more, amount of calories that you would if you would have eaten full fat ones.
It is the portion sizes that matter a lot. You can eat less if you limit your portions. You should keep to small portion size and more physical activity.
You should avoid super size meals and foods because you will overstuff yourself by eating such portions.
Condiments like salad dressings and mayonnaise should be best kept to a minimum only.
You should not eat after 8 at night
This misconception is very common among people who diet. However, the fact is that it is not the time that matters but the amount and type of food that you eat that matters.
Stuffing yourself with sausages and fries in the middle of the night is certainly not a good idea. However, stuffing yourself with sausages and fries at any time of the day is not a good idea. Therefore, remember to eat healthy at all times of the day, whether it is night or day.
