Weight Loss and Hypertension

Hypertension can be caused by many ways. One of the big reasons for this is obesity. Hypertension occurs when we have high blood pressure without any obvious reason. Doctors are still not sure how obesity is linked to hypertension but the kidneys do come into play.

It is very important to get treated if you are diagnosed with hypertension. This health condition is known as the silent killer. It actually causes the body to age prematurely. That being said, that leads to your arteries aging and this of course can lead to heart attack as well as kidney failure.

Amongst all of the other reasons to lose weight for your health, helping to cure hypertension should also be high on your list of health risks. Exercise is one of the best methods to prevent dangers of hypertension. It is important to watch your diet and have an exercise plan that you can follow.

When planning your exercise regimen, 60 to 90 minutes a week is a great way to lower your risk of high blood pressure. Your diet should be low in fat, saturated fat and also cholesterol. You want to eat plenty of fruits, veggies and also fiber. Meat, fish, nuts and poultry should be the smallest amount of your food consumption.

Your exercise program should also include cardio as well. Remember it is important to warm up and then go walking, jogging, cycling or even swimming. You should also do some sit-ups and some stretching.

Controlling your diet and keeping obesity out of the picture, you will be helping yourself to keep hypertension out of your life. By watching what you eat and exercising every day, you are doing a lot more than just helping to prevent hypertension.

You are also keeping yourself healthy and fit. So when your doctor tells you that a proper diet and exercise is a great way to stay healthy remember, you are not only staying at your ideal weight but, you are also helping your body to prevent the silent killer, hypertension from creeping in.
