Weight During Teen Years
The most crucial time in one’s life is during the teen years. It is the formative time as well as the period involving various changes in the body and behavior of the person. Because of these reasons, it is very important to make a diet plan in order to maintain the weight. It is essential at this stage to determine the average weight of the individual.
Boys and girls have different average weights and heights. So their growth should be analyzed differently. Body Mass Index is used to calculate the weight, which involves dividing weight by the square of the height. Where the weight of a teenager boy of age 12-15 years ranges from 85-125 lbs, it ranges from 95-115 lbs in the girl’s case. For boys 16-20 years of age, the weight ranges from 130-160 lbs; whereas that of girls ranges form 115-130 lbs.
Taking your child to a pediatrician is a wise decision. He can give an exact and accurate definition of normal health for your child. The teenage years involve sudden body changes which are the result of hormonal changes in the body.
In this condition, it is essential to check if your child is underweight or overweight. Only then can steps be taken to maintain the right weight. At this growing age when the body is under drastic physical and behavioral changes, it is a must to check that a teenager consumes a balanced and healthy diet that is rich in the essential vitamins and minerals.
The weight of the teenager will be in uniformity with height if a healthy diet is combined with exercises and if a healthy lifestyle is followed. In order to achieve a perfect body, the diet should be planned on the advice of a dietician, who can plan in a better way which vitamins and minerals should be included in the diet.
The intake of high calorie, high fat and junk food should be only occasional, as this type of food is not healthy and at this stage only healthy food can result in the right and perfect body.
