Ways to Boost Triceps Growth

Some of the athletes or men who desire larger or bigger triceps cannot rely on press downs only. The press down stresses the lateral head of the triceps. So, if only press down is practiced, the other two heads of the triceps remain weak and undersized and you will not get the desired growth. There are some other versions of press down, workout exercises and techniques that can help in fulfilling the requirement.

PUSH IT: In case, you want to do press downs, do them in a balanced way. The guys practicing should hold the bar properly, to push with fingers. It lay stress on the hands and wrist and reduces the total force applied to the bar. The secret is to push it with the heel of the palms for maximum benefit. Greater overload leads to more triceps growth.

PULL IT: The reverse to the above push is to turn over your grip and follow an underhand grip to pull the weight down while practicing triceps press downs. The overhand version lays more stress on the lateral triceps head, whereas, the underhand version stresses the neglected middle head. To enlarge the overall triceps mass, the mass of all three triceps heads should be maximized. For this, you need to dedicate more time to the medial head besides the lateral head.

ANGLE IT: The lying triceps expansion is known to be dedicated for bodybuilders as skull crushers. The exercise in which you grab the bar and head over to the flat bench should be made effectual by changing the angle of the exercise and this in turn efficiently changes the triceps head, which is strained.

When the arms are positioned in front of the body and overhead, the long head is stressed more. When skull crushers are performed on a flat bench, the arms are at right angles to the body, the long head and lateral head are equally exercised with a fair of involvement of the medial head. When it is done on an inclined bench, due to the arms movement overhead larger stress is laid on the long head. While it is done on a decline bench, the arms movement is towards the sides of the body, like triceps press down.
