Walk Talk and Chew Gum
We have all been told that healthy eating and proper diet combined with exercise is the best way to loose weight. What about chewing gum? It has been shown that chewing gum can help you loose up to 11 pounds of weight each year.
In Minnesota, some research was done on the effects of weight loss while chewing gum and found that it increases your metabolic heart rate which in turns burns calories.
There are some disadvantages and advantages to chewing gum. If you get one that is sugar free, which would be the best choice, you can also help promote tooth decay. Of course we all know that chewing gum can kill your bad breath as well.
A disadvantage to chewing gum to loose weight is that you would have to walk and chew and give your body the rest that it needs as when your rest in between reps.
It is also not good for your digestive tract. The stomach and intestines become overworked and can lead to stomach ulcers and burns. There is also a concern about different types of cancers.
Yes, it would be great to be able to chew the fat off so to speak, but unless you are willing to chew 24 hours a day 7days a week, you may be able to find a better way to loose that extra 11 pounds a year. That’s not to say you shouldn’t chew gum. It can at least contribute to your daily routine.
Even though there are possible side effects, we all know that most things do if not used in moderation. Chewing gum should become a part of your daily routine. This way when you are not working out at the gym, your workout is still going on with very little effort.
So, hit the store and pick up a pack of your favorite sugarless gum. Your breath will stay fresh, your teeth white and you are still helping your body to get fit and trim. Chewing gum is something that you can do all day without even leaving your house.
