Vodka
Vodka is a customary religious drink of different regions like Europe Russia, Baltic States, Poland etc and it is popular internationally. The most excellent vodka is refined from rye and barley malt. But sometimes the inexpensive corn and potatoes also manufacture it. Usually, the alcoholic potency of more than 90% is generally diluted before selling. Typical vodka is the one, which has no characteristic odor or taste.
Vodka is the most popular wine category in the U.S with a very high consumption. Traded in and national brands are more than 24% in America. It includes distilled spirits such as vodka, which outsells scotch, Canadian and Irish whiskies estimated together.
The definition of vodka is describes it as distilled spirit having no distinguishing nature, aroma, taste and color. This has been one of the reasons of vodka success because it mixes well with any other variety of drink to enhance the impact and taste.
The vodka is manufactured by the distillation of a fermented pulp of grain at higher alcohol levels. All the congeners are diluted at such higher levels providing vodka its flavorless, odorless properties.
Vodka is further distillated by a method in which the spirit is treated with vegetal charcoal. The spirits should remain in contact with the charcoal for almost eight hours. The charcoal should be changed, every 40 hours of process.
Vodka has become popular recently because of the change in consumers choice towards more lighter, flavorless and neutral wines. The flavoring substances are mostly eliminated in processing changing it to a neutral drink.
So, finally the class and quality of the vodka is dependent on the finishing process such as the kind of charcoal used, the process of distillation employed, the equipment operated, the kind of water used and many other factors.
