Underlying Secret Of A French Diet

October 23, 2008

The diet of a French person consists of organic foods eaten in smaller quantities. This is known as French Paradox: This is the reason the state of cheese eaters, butter lovers, chain cigarette smokers, wine drinkers and croissant munchers have less people suffering from issues such as heart diseases and obesity in comparison to North Americans who are very health conscious.

The statistics are an excellent proof for it. Approximately 8% of the total French population is overweight in comparison to the Americans who have around 50 % of its population suffering from overweight issues and on the other hand, approximately 7 % out of the total French population are obese in comparison to a massive 22 % Americans. The French consume four times the amount of butter, 60% extra cheese and nearly thrice the pork in comparison to what an average individual eats. They also eat more wholesome and saturated fat. However—here’s the thumbs up — The British Heart Foundation states that in the year 1999, only 83 French died of heart diseases on an average of 100,000 males between the ages of 35 – 74 in comparison to a shocking 230 in United States of America.

An Irish doctor named Samuel Black gave birth to French Paradox in the year 1819. However, it gained wide popularity in the year 1991 in North America when a channel called 60 minutes broadcasted an article illustrating the rich qualities of diets including red wine — This became popular to such an extent that manufacturers of wine started labeling their goods as a healthy foods!
