Troubleshooting in pregnancy
There is an onset of numerous troubled conditions during pregnancy. Morning sickness is one of the common problems. Nausea and vomiting is the most common complain, particularly in early pregnancy. It may or may not be restricted to the morning. It occurs in about 70 per cent of pregnant women. In some cases, it becomes severe when the women are not able to eat as it comes out immediately through vomiting. It can lead to dehydration. It has been surveyed and found that serious condition is suffered by around two per cent of women and required medical help. .
There are some measures that can be taken to reduce the suffering of pregnancy nausea.
A woman should have small frequent meals. It should be taken every one to two hours during the day. The consumed items should be carbohydrate rich foods such as bread or variety of rolls, pasta, rice, potatoes biscuits, oatcakes etc. The fatty foods should be avoided, as they are heavier to digest by your stomach further aggravating the indigestion. Little sips of bubbly drinks are helpful in lighten the sick feeling.
You can keep some healthy snack items beside your bed so that you can eat quickly in case of acidic trouble. Black tea and coffee contain caffeine and tannins, which aggravate nausea and vomiting. Morning sickness usually lasts for the first three months of pregnancy.
Particular food cravings and food dislikes are also suffered during pregnancy. It is essentially due to changes in the gut, hormones and sharp sense of taste and smell. These food cravings and aversions do not have an unfavorable affect, if the diet is nutritive and balanced. The most commonly seen aversions are towards caffeinated drinks, fatty foods, meats and alcohol. Heartburn and constipation caused due to indigestion are common, particularly in later months of pregnancy.
