Top 10 activity boosters in a hectic lifestyle

Things are becoming so hectic and fast these days that we can hardly give any attention to our health or our lifestyle. Here are some ideas to include some activity in your routine.

Go to work walking or on a bike
This will allow you some exercise without breaking your schedule. It will improve your health as well as save money. You will also keep the environment clean.

In case you use public transportation…
In this case, you can walk to or from the train, bus or subway. You can at least do it one way of the commute. All you will need is a pair of sneakers and socks; you can of course carry your work shoes with you.

In case you must drive…
If your work is too far and you drive to work, then you can park away from your work or farthest from your building. This will give you opportunity to walk a little.

If you are tied to your desk…

In such a case, your best time is the lunch break. Take some time out and do some activity like a workout in your office gym. The least you can do is take a walk around the block. If you move fast, you can cover a good distance too. This will refresh you for the rest of the day.

Prefer stairs to elevator
Taking the stairs will also keep you active. Whether at work, home or in a store, always choose the stairs.

Pace or stand when chatting on the phone
When talking on the phone take a break from your desk. Get up and answer it. You can even pace up and down while talking on the phone.

If you are tied to the phone all the time…

If your job keeps you on the phone all the time, you cannot afford to remain standing. However, you can get up and walk around a bit, maybe to the coffee machine or the loo, or simply stroll every hour. This will give you a break, stretch your legs and make you more productive.

Do simple stretches
Make it a habit to do simple stretches. You can do them at your desk every so often throughout the day. Reach your hand over your head and stretch your arms and back. Arch and round your back to loosen your spine.

If you have to talk to a colleague…
Go over yourself if you have to talk or drop off a memo. Avoid the phone, email or interoffice mail.

Use a big ball instead of a chair occasionally
Keep a big ball handy. You can use it as your chair. It will keep you in the right posture and keep your from hunching over.
