Tips to Ward off Cold

To ward off cold, you first need to strengthen your immune system.  There are some easy and effective supplements to boost your immune system.

During recent study in the test with garlic, researchers included 146 volunteers who were given either a placebo or a garlic supplement once a day for few months. It was later found and concluded that people in the garlic group had fewer colds than the placebo group. Moreover, the people of placebo group got cleared up from cold faster.

Echinacea is an herb, quite effectual against cold. When experts examined, some major compound were found in the herbs which if taken as a supplement lowered the risk of developing cold by 58% on an average even after exposure. It was also seen that even if the Echinacea users were infected with cold, the duration was 1.4 days shorter than average. To extract the maximum benefit, select Purpurea on the label which is the purest form of the plant.

In case of scratchy or sore throat, zinc is of big relief. Most of the medication is ineffective and taking the antibiotics as directed can cause diarrhea and upset stomach. Instead of them, go for some zinc pastille. There is enough evidence that these elemental treatments may help alleviate the severity of cold symptoms. It is the most effective when you start taking them on the initial stage. As soon as you identify the first sign of a sore throat or a burning nose, take one zinc lozenge by dissolving and gurgle it for maximum relief. You can take 1 zinc lozenge every one to two hours for the next eight hours.  But be careful not to take too much. In case you feel nausea, vomiting, or a foul in your mouth, stop taking the supplement right away.
