Tips for a Successful Exercise Routine
The human body is not designed to go for long periods of time without movement. When you spend hours laying on the couch watching television or sitting at the computer surfing the internet you will start to experience some physical side affects.
Your joints start to stiffen, your heart rate slows way down and you stop burning calories. You have to get up and exercise if you want to keep your body running smoothly.
How Much Exercise
Spending just thirty minutes a day exercising will go a long way to improving your overall health. You might even lose some weight. In addition to helping you lose weight, people who exercise regularly are less likely to be stressed and tend to avoid depression.
Before You Start
If you are over thirty-five years old and have been sedentary most of your life, you should talk to a doctor and maybe a physical therapist before you start a daily exercise program.
They will make sure that you don’t have any pre-existing conditions that could be exasperated when you start to exercise.
Start Slow
If you have never exercised before or if you are just getting back to exercising after a long lay up, you shouldn’t plan on running the New York marathon right away. When it comes to exercising you will want to start out slowly and gradually increase the amount of exercise.
Be Committed
Once you start exercising you need to commit yourself to exercising at least thirty minutes every single day. Before you know it, the exercise will be a habit that you will find impossible to break.
The Best Time to Exercise
If you are trying to use exercise to lose weight, you should make sure that you schedule your daily exercise before you eat. In addition to burning calories and boosting your metabolism, the exercise will decrease your appetite and you will consume less.
Stay Hydrated
Make sure that you always have a bottle of water close at hand while you are exercising so that you can keep yourself hydrated.
Buddy Up
Find a friend or family member who is also trying to get into shape. Having someone to exercise with will make the process more enjoyable and the two of you can offer each other support and guidance.
