The South Beach Diet – Not For Everyone
The South Beach Diet will work for those who have a great strength of mind to succeed with it. Developed by Dr. Arthur Agatston, a cardiologist, the plan stresses on the cutting down of carbohydrates.
Though a limited number of foods are totally banned, there are plenty of choices with the rest and the plan offers a wide menu of meal plans, even for vegetarians.
The plan educates us on the nutritional advantages of various foods; tells us how to derive benefits from good fats and the consequences of consuming processed foods. Many points can boost the effects of the plan, but here are the important ones.
Take a minimum of eight glasses of water everyday
Nothing helps better than this liquid diet for losing weight. Increase your intake of water. Apart from keeping your body hydrated, and thus keeping hunger pains at bay, it takes out toxins from your system.
It will be a smart idea to have a glass of water before every meal. This will satiate your hunger without eating that extra helping of food. There is a discount for those who don’t like to drink just plain water. It is permissible to add a bit of juice or lemon for that zing and flavor.
Minimize intake of caffeine
You are permitted to have just one cup of tea or coffee per day. Those who are quite used to their morning cup of tea or coffee may continue to have it and account for that in daily intake of water but the limit is set at one only.
During the course of the day one may have decaffeinated drinks and herbal teas. In all probability, you may realize that you don’t feel so stressed out with the elimination of caffeine from your diet.
Complement your diet with multivitamins
It is realized that even the healthiest of diets is unable to offer the required amount of vitamins essentially needed by the body. The plan insists on supplementing your diet with just one multivitamin everyday to take care of any deficiencies of minerals and vitamins.
The South Beach Diet is no magic wand to help you bring down your weight. It calls for a changed way of living.
