The Safe Way to Curb Your Appetite
While it is important for your heart and body to exercise, exercise is not always the quick fix solution to losing weight rapidly. If you want to see your weight drop, you need to be aware of how many calories you are consuming and reduce the amount.
When your body craves sweet or salty foods, it is not always easy to tell your body “no”. But if you are looking to curb your appetite and eat fewer calories, you are going to have to find a way to refrain from eating these foods.
There are a variety of ways to get a hold of your appetite, and naturally control the food that you eat. Here are some ways.
Plan your meals. If mealtime comes and you have no clue what you would like to eat, chances are that you will grab anything that looks appealing without giving much thought to the amount of calories the food has or its nutritional value.
If you plan your meals, there will be less of a chance that you grab the first thing that appeals to you. In order to beat the cravings for unhealthy food, you need to have a game plan in order for each of your meals.
One way to do this is to cook your meals ahead of time and store them. That way, when you are looking to grab something to eat, you’ll have a refrigerator full of healthy choices.
Another way to stop eating unhealthy foods or binge eating is to eat in a well-lit area. If you are able to witness, what you are eating and how much you are eating you will be more likely to monitor the food you eat. If you eat in a dark room you are more likely to just grab anything and keep eating it without guilt.
Eat a diet high in fiber. Fiber works in two ways. First, it cleans out your colon and eliminates toxins in your body. Fiber also absorbs water and fills you up faster because it expands faster in your stomach.
It is important to eat a diet high in protein. Protein is the building block for muscles. A diet that is high in protein and low in carbohydrates can help you control your hunger. Because protein based foods such as chicken and meat are bulkier food items they take longer to digest which leaves you feeling full.
Make sure that you get enough sleep. The amount of quality sleep that a person gets is directly linked to their appetite. A person who does not get enough rest will have problems with two specific hormones: leptin and gherlin.
The leptin hormone works to reduce a person’s appetite. The gherlin hormone increases a person’s appetite. A person who does not get enough quality sleep will experience food cravings.
Play mind games with yourself. Color can affect a person’s appetite. Rooms that are decorated in cool colors such as blue make a person feel calmer and less inclined to randomly eat.
Eat off of smaller plates. When you finish what is on your plate your mind will assume that it is full. Add some scents to the room other than the scent of the food. If you light a candle your mind will become distracted by that smell rather than the smell of food.
